EIQA proudly sponsored the Culinary ABILITY Awards
EIQA proudly sponsored the Culinary ABILITY Awards at the Salon Culinaire Excel in London on the 4th March 2010.
The prestigious Culinary ABILITY Awards provide individuals with a disability with the opportunity to cook and present their food at an international level. The awards were started 5 years ago by Chris Sandford and take place every two years, alternating between Dublin, Belfast and London.
This is the first year that EIQA has sponsored the Culinary ABILITY Awards. EIQA is dedicated to the Q Mark which promotes quality and excellence in Ireland and recently announced the ABLE Business Excellence award, known as the Q Mark for Accessibility, which is aimed at ensuring an inclusive environment for all staff and customers with disabilities.
Six Irish contenders competed at this year's Culinary ABILITY Awards and demonstrated their remarkable skills and talents to potential employers in the international arena.
Winners in the 2010 Culinary Awards are:
Sara Weir (gold and first in class), BS Kitchen Dr Barnado's, Belfast; Rebecca Thurston (gold), City Gate Belfast; Darren Doyle (silver), BS Kitchen Dr Barnardo's, Belfast; Anthony Lavelle (silver), Eurest Microsoft, Dublin; David Mitchie (bronze), Cosy Kitchen, Dublin; Elisabeth Talbot, Howard's Way, Kilkenny.
