Diploma in Quality Management Part 1 & 2


The Diploma in Quality Management is professionally accredited by EIQA.

The Diploma offers the opportunity for those who already have knowledge of Quality Control and Assurance to develop their skills in this area. On completion of the course you will understand, critically analyse and be able to implement successful quality management in the manufacturing or service industries. The course is offered in two parts, over successive years. It is assessed through a Project and an Examination.

Diploma Part 1 Aims & Objectives:
• To give students an understanding of general management principles and of how quality is managed in a manufacturing or service organisation.
• To explain the methodology of quality improvement, in particular the various tools and techniques for analysis.
• To carry out a project / assignment on a relevant aspect of quality assurance.

Diploma Part 2 Aims & Objectives:
• To further develop the student's understanding of quality management
• To allow the student to develop an in depth understanding of the philosophies of quality management and their place in today's quality movement
• To help students to critically analyse and improve their own communication skills and to understand the importance of communication in the world of quality
• To further develop the student's appreciation of management principles as they apply to quality
• To allow the student to develop an understanding of all syllabus topics.
• To allow the student the opportunity to develop powers of critical analysis of the field of quality management not only of current theories, but also of new developments as they arise.

Entry Requirements: An Introduction to Quality Assurance Course and/or relevant work experience, or an equivalent qualification is required for entry to the Diploma Part 1. Part 2 is a follow on to Part 1, therefore knowledge of that course and of its entry requirements will be assumed.

The Diploma in Quality Management Part 1 & 2 is offered for the academic year 2009-10 in Athlone Institute of Technology, Cork Institute of Technology, Galway Mayo Institute of Technology, Limerick Institute of Technology, Institute of Technology Tallaght, and Waterford Institute of Technology.
